25 weeks belly picture!

Oh my! This belly is getting bigger by the day! 15 weeks to go.

Additional and hopefully final doctor update for the week!

Update:

On Tuesday night I was in so much pain I almost went to the ER. Cramping, back spasms, and extreme bladder pain. I was in tears on the way home, so I called my doctor. He reassured me that these symptoms are not uncommon, but if I was really uncomfortable and worried to go to the ER. Well, I got through the night and headed up to work on Wed (I always feel much better in the morning). Around 10 he called and told me to come in and get a sonogram to be safe and then he would see me. I got there and had my sono. She is doing great and apparently I am the only one that is not doing so good.

Well after that I was waiting to see him. I was forced in so I waited about 2 1/2 hrs to see the doc. While I was waiting they decided I needed to do my glucose test. YUCK!!! On top of that, I had not eaten lunch yet, so I got light headed, shaky and had a hot flash. I ate some crackers really fast and the nurses weren't happy, but I was about to pass out. Well he talked to me and this is what he thinks all this pain is.

As my body is preparing for a child, the tendons and ligaments around my pelvis are loosening, thanks to the hormone relaxin (seriously). Some people have menstrual type cramps from it, some back pains, some minimal pains, some none at all, and some with pretty severe pain, including bladder pain. Guess where I fall.... So he gave me an antibiotic to make sure I have no infection and some Tylenol with codeine to take before bed. Unfortunately it is too strong to take at work (even though it might make it more fun!) so I just have to deal with the pain. He said eventually the pain will subside, and if it does not in two weeks he is sending me to a specialist to make sure there is nothing more major going on. Also, he said if the Tylenol works, it is likely just some inflammation. Well, the Tylenol is working. I took it last night before bed and I did not want to go to sleep because it is the first time in over a week I was not hurting. Oh well. Also, at the sonogram, we discovered the baby is frank breech, which means her little booty is sitting on my birth canal with her knees and legs straight over her head. The doc said that will also make me a lot more uncomfortable. If she does not move on her own, we will deal with that later.

Say prayers and think positive thoughts that this is just a temporary setback so I can hold a beautiful baby girl in my arms. It is totally worth it!

I will be adding some pics of me and my ever growing belly today too! I hope to add the sono pics soon.

Thanks for all the support! Love you guys!

Continued Doctor Update and 25 weeks!

So, I will start with the somewhat good news. The second infection we all thought I had is not there. I went to the doc yesterday AM and they cultured my samples and there is no infection and there never was. Yeah! Bad News: It still feels like I have one and there is not a treatment to help the pain right this minute. I have to live with the pain of this one, without meds. So we have narrowed it down to two things (I am hoping for 1).

1. The antibiotics I was on for the sinus infection have inflamed my uterus and bladder to the point of feeling like I have an infection and I just need to let everything calm down. I have stopped the meds and we will see what happens....

2. It is the baby laying or adding just the right pressure on my bladder or nerves for the bladder causing the intense pain. If this is the case, I will be finding out when I go to my next OB appointment on Friday and there may not be much he can do about it....I can not even imagine dealing with this for 15 more weeks. Justin is supposed to have a little "chat" soon with his daughter about keeping mommy in discomfort all day :o)

I will update everyone when we know what is going on here.....

On a positive note, I am 15 weeks away from this little girl arriving. And boy is she letting me know she is here. Constant movement and kicking now. Here is what is going on this week.

25 weeks

How your baby's growing:

Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

Further update

Well, this was not a great week on my end. I have not felt well at all and it is taking much longer to get better than I had planned. On Tuesday, they confirmed a sinus infection and got me some antibiotics. That has more or less cleared up.

Then on Thursday I noticed that I was getting the symptoms of every girls' favorite kind of infection. Needless to say, I was already on antibiotics, so the treatment has not changed. However, I still am feeling bad.....I have downed two jugs of cranberry juice and have been limited to Tylenol only. I do feel better, but not by much. I am calling the doc in the morning to see if there needs to be a change in the antibiotic. I am still able to do some stuff around the house, but I mostly want to watch TV or relax. I am just worn out enough.

Yesterday we had to take Justin to urgent care because he got a stomach bug in the middle of the night and we all think it was a small bout of food poisoning. He had not slept 5 total minutes on Friday night, so he slept some during the day on Saturday. He is feeling better, but now we just need to get me going.

With all this, our little girl is still doing fine. She is kicking and moving like nothing is wrong. Except that the cranberry juice is so sugary I am making her very hyper this weekend! Sorry little one :o)

Hopefully I will get an answer from the doc tomorrow and we can determine what to do next.

Things are not awful, but could better. So for all you girls out there, any suggestions for helping with my discomfort would be greatly appreciated!

Doctor Update

I just got back from the doctor. I have a stupid sinus infection. I am likely not going into the office today, so I can rest and take it easy (Dr. orders). I am far enough along in the pregnancy to take some antibiotics so I should be feeling much better tomorrow.

24 Week Update

Well I had a more or less uneventful week last week. Just went to work and hung around the house. On Saturday I was waiting for Ike to strike my house. Before Ike rolled through Dallas, I went to my cousin Lindsay's shower. She is due in just a few weeks and she looks great. She had some adorable stuff!! I was definitely taking notes for some ideas :o) After that I got home and watched the edge of the storm roll in. It was not that bad, escept that the tree we finally got the builder to replace 5 days earlier was looking as if it was about to uproot. In fact the two trees across the street did. Luckily, it did not! Outside of that our neighborhood was very lucky as the storm went a little farther east.

I have had a lot of friends displaced by this or without power. To all my Houston buddies and my Galveston friend, I am sending positive thoughts and prayers your way. Keep safe!!

I worked hard on the house Sunday after I woke up not feeling well. It is starting to come together. Of course I was exhausted after that. Yesterday I thought my allergies were bad, but I think it may be more than that. I was not able to sleep hardly at all. I feel like I have a cold bordering on a sinus infection. What hurts is my ears. They are throbbing. I just made an appointment to see my doctor. I am miserable. Hopefully they can do something for me....

On the baby news:

She moves more and more every day. Justin got to feel a good hard judo kick two days ago. He was suprised by how hard it was. I know I will get a little tired of it later, but it is fun and reassuring to have her moving around.

Here is what is going on this week.

How your baby's growing:

Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts her at just over a pound. Since she's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), she cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but her body is filling out proportionally and she'll soon start to plump up. Her brain is also growing quickly now, and her taste buds are continuing to develop. Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once she hits the outside world. Her skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

23 weeks!

Well, one more week down. As I mentioned previously, Justin and I got to spend 3 whole days together. I took Monday off and we spent some quality time together. We need to enjoy these days while we can!!

We had a really productive weekend. We worked on the house on Saturday to get ready to work on the nursery. We still have a lot to do, but we are getting there. At 4 we watched the A&M game, as it was actually on TV. On Sunday we both went to church and I started feeling really bad. My hips and back muscles had a constant dull pain. So we watched some movies and the Cowboys game. I was very uncomfortable all day. On Monday Justin and I ate a late breakfast at a cute cafe in Downtown Wylie and then we went and began the baby registry process. It is so completely overwhelming how much stuff there is.....Justin and I had a hard time just knowing where to begin. Thank goodness for online registry maintenance. I have a feeling we will be adding/deleting as we get an idea what the heck we are doing :o). After that we went to a late afternoon movie, and we were one of 4 people in the theater. After Justin's parents got home from their trip we went to dinner. It was a really fun 3 day weekend with the hubby. We do not get to do this very often.

On the baby front:

Last Wed, I went for my full physical exam and got some good news. I am not forced to have a c-section or does he see any delivery issues due to my spinal and hip alignment. In fact he said "you have room for two." I told him, he was insane. I think the big thing was my weight gain. They did not say anything, but I gained almost gained 5 pounds in two weeks.....I am supposed to gain 1 pound a week. I imagine if I have another month (or two weeks like that) I will be hearing about that from the doc.

One other thing. She is kicking and moving like crazy now. Justin can feel her all the time now. I believe I do have a very active baby....that could be fun later.

This is the update for the week - Week 23.

How your baby's growing:

Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze her when she hears them outside the womb.

The best family and friends in the world (and week 22)

Well, I had a nice week this past week. Work was productive and just busy enough to make the days go fast. I spent a lot of time with my in-laws this week, mostly my mother-in-law and Justin's aunt Susan (as well as a close family friend Pam).

One day this past week Janet and Justin met myself and Pam for lunch downtown. Ironically, Pam and I work in the same building downtown. We had really yummy Mexican food in Uptown. Then on Saturday I had a girl's day out.. I slept in late and around noon, Susan and Janet and I saw Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 and then got deluxe pedicures. I almost fell asleep in the chair. It was awesome. Then I cam home and Justin and spent some quality time together.

On Sunday morning I was not feeling all that well, but started feeling better that afternoon. I went to buy a maternity swim suit as nothing fits anymore ans then hung out at the in-laws pool and the whole family went to dinner. Justin's brother, Jeff, is about to go to Hawaii for four months (jealous anyone?!?!?) so everyone went to dinner, except for Justin, because he was at work.

Today I did absolutely nothing. I had grand plans to work on the house, yet nothing happened. Justin and I are both off Saturday-Monday next week so I think we are going to spend nice time together, but also work on the house and baby stuff. I am going to take a day off to spend time together. We may go register one day that weekend. That will be a lot of fun!

Tomorrow is the 22 week mark, and I have been feeling extremely pregnant as of late. I am "rolling" out of bed more often then sitting up. I making a minimum of 2-3 bathroom visits a night. Mobility is beginning to suffer. But most importantly, I am feeling the baby kick more regularly and I feel her move around alot. It is an absolutely amazing feeling. I am so blessed to be experiencing this. It was always a huge fear of mine that I would not be able to conceive a child, so to know that this is real is incredible. Justin has felt her kick once and now he is checking all the time. It is so cute!!! He is so excited to be a daddy.

I have a dr appointment Wednesday and it should be a big one as he is going to check on the possibility of natural child birth and making sure that everything is progressing nicely in terms of delivery needs. In honor of tomorrow, below is the 22 week update on my princess:

22 weeks!!

How your baby's growing:

At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.
